Ryoku is the strong silent type, he doesn't speak much and smile's very little, Ryoku only speaks when spoken to. Ryoku is calm, collected, and detached from others, he doesn't like getting to close to people and prefers to be alone. He only speaks when spoken to and when he does speak he speaks very intelligently and with a sense of calmness. Ryoku is very intelligent and shows it when he fights, remembering up to the smallest detail about the opponent moves.
In battle Ryoku is still very calm but begins to talk more. Ryoku has a habit to disrespect an opponent when they don't think things through, no matter how strong or high rank.

Ryoku was born on a farm on Bizen, Japan to a poor farmer named Shirai Kamigami and his wife Amara Ezaro. He was the oldest out of the 5 Kamigami children as such he had to take care of his 3 brothers and 2 sisters. Life was hard for Ryoku growing up, when Ryoku was only 7 he had to help his father on the farm. He had no time for playing, no time for friends, and no time for school. Because of this Ryoku didn't have very good people skills.
When Ryoku was 12 years old war broke out all across Japan and men were drafted from all parts of Japan, one of these men was Ryoku's father. Ryoku's father left for the war and gave Ryoku responsibility over the farm, Ryoku hated him for it. Ryoku's father then walked down the road with a bunch of other men to meet there deaths. Not one of them came home alive, some didn't come home at all. The war lasted for 4 years and by that time they had lost the war. Famine quickly rolled in claiming lives one of the lives lost was that of his youngest brother who died from malnutrition. A few days after Ryoku's mother killed her self for the lose of my her youngest child.
Ryoku waited day after day for his father to come home, he never did. One day Ryoku was working he lands with his younger brothers when a group of rogue samurai came to there farm, demanding food and drink. Ryoku's family was very poor and could not give any food to the samurai. As punishment the samurai attacked Ryoku's family, they killed Ryoku's brothers, they killed Ryoku's 2 sisters after they raped them repeatly, and burned the farm to the ground. They let Ryoku live but used him as a slave and beat him regulary. They took Ryoku from his land and forced him into a life of slavery.
Ryoku became there servant and abused him regulary. Ryoku hated them with all his might and plotted to kill them all in one savage,violent attack. One night when the group was drunk and passed out, Ryoku took one of there swords and killed them while they slept. One of them woke up and saw Ryoku standing over his comrades drenched in blood and a sword in hand. Ryoku looked at the man and moved to him to kill him. The man quickly got up and took out his sword and attacked Ryoku but the man was drunk his accuracy was terrible but he skill managed to cut Ryoku's chest once before falling over. Ryoku took his change and stabbed the man repeatly. Ryoku was 17 at the time. Ryoku wondered through the night looking for help for his wounds.
Ryoku found help from a old women who healed his wounds. While he slept three tax collecting samurai came and demanded money but she could not pay so they hit her. Ryoku a woke to find the women the floor and a samurai yelling at her. Ryoku grabbed his sword and attacked the samurai killing him. Ryoku managed to injure another Samurai but was captured by another. Ryoku was sent to prison and was sentenced to death.
Ryoku was to be killed on May 6th when he was 20, but war broke out one more and his execution date was moved. The the place Ryoku was inprisoned on was attack and taken by forces of the opposite side. All the prisoners were given a choice at freedom or they had to fight with the forces. Ryoku chose to fight with them, for as he had nothing to lose. Ryoku expected to die soon any way, he had no money, he was a fugitive, and he had no family. But Ryoku survived and escaped at age 19.
Ryoku was in service for 3 years. He became a well known Rebel-swordsmen throgh the war, his hatred, and anger for the enemy made him a fierce warrior. Ryoku killed close to some 350 men in his years of service to the Rebellion. Just when the Rebellion seemd as it was going to win it leaders were fond and executed on the spot, and the Rebellion quickly disbanded and mass arrest's were made. The war was over and they lost.
Ryoku went into hiding for 2 years, after that he became a Mercenary for some 5 years until he was captured and was killed infront of the Royal Court. His body was buried on a un-marked grave.

Ryoku wandered the land watching wars and battles for years. Until a Shinigami found him and sent him to the SS. His life as a Spirit was not very long.

Ryoku ended up in the SS, he wandered through district to district. He eventually made his way into the Academy where he learned to read and write,he eventually got his Zanpaktou. Ryoku then made his way into the 2nd Division were he now resides.
