Personality: Kai is very sensitive towards others and to himself. He is an easy going person and cares deeply for his allies. There is nothing more meaningful to him then allies and being betrayed or seeing another betrayed pains him deeply. He enjoys joking around and loves to ease drop on other conversations. He is not afraid to say what’s on his mind and always gives a straight answer even if it ends up being a painful choice to say.

Same applies for on the battlefield. Though Kai may be lazy from time to time he gets the job done, eventually, and he’ll never leave a comrade behind, dead or alive. He has a strong sense of judgment and always considers his every option before making a move, though he puts on the face of a clueless person, in truth he is very knowledgeable and is willing to put his live on the line for his friends and comrades. He is never too eager to strike and would prefer to settle most disputes with words than with swords. He never sees anything good from a fight accept pain being inflicted on another being, but yet he understands that sometimes there are battles that just can’t be avoided. Too that he tends to enjoy a good battle and his personality completely changes from kindhearted to bloodlust when this occurs, although at the same time he is willing to leave a battle at anytime.

Kai enjoys taking naps on his spare time as well as going about through the North Rukongai district where he spent most of his spirit life before enrolling into the Shinigami academy. He daydreams daily while on portal or on a mission and really just don’t give much heck to how people view his hobbies. Too he enjoys nature and making poor art sketches of random things that pops into his mind, but most of all he favors sleeping on high areas. He shows promises of becoming a great Shinigami but many sees that with his personality and attitude he won’t realize his true potential and won’t make it very far, but he do sees this, he just doesn’t show it. Better way of describing him is very lazy, but yet still willing to do hard work in the eyes of few.

Kai can show great leadership skills at times, but he lacks the ability to make decisions that involve the life of a comrade. His battle methods are speed base attacks and technique as well as using anything in his surround to give him an edge in a battle. Though he has fine Zanjutsu skill, he often begins most of his fights with Kidou base attacks. When battling using a Zanpakutô, he favors the using of single arm swings and alternating from the right hand to the left hand. Kai believes that even though one is a skill in Zanjutsu and in Kidou, learning hand to hand combat is just as equally important which is why he strides to improve all his combat skills daily when no one is around.

History/Background: Life Before Seireitei
Form the 18th District of North Rukongai; as far back as Kai know that was the location where he came from before enrolling at the academy. He too can still remember that he was indeed once human, born in the living world and died there too at the age of a young boy, but those memories are all behind him. While living in the 18th District, like most living souls there Kai banded together with other kids just like him and together they took care and defended each other. Being the newest member of the group, Kai earned the nickname Ototo, or younger brother.
Though the proclaim younger brother of the group out of twenty-five other kids just like himself, Kai had more spiritual energy than any of them, but yet he too was the laziest out of all of them. Spending a few months with together, Kai had discovered the Soul Reapers and somehow they all made an oath to better their lives by becoming Soul Reapers someday. However, that was not meant to be for one by one, year by year each of them began to fall from sickness or lack of nutrition. Each one slowly slipped away and Kai began to lose a piece of himself and darkness started to consume him, eventually a Kai was the only one left and the darkness became solid inside his heart. Giving up on their dream and cursing at his friends’ lies about the promise of becoming Soul Reapers someday “together” Kai wander around District 18 without a destination.

Then meeting two other people on his journey to nowhere they brought him back to his senses and together they taught him to be his old self and they all went to Seireitei where they enroll in the academy. In the academy he exxceled at all aspects of training. He was reconized at the top of his class and was great and coragus leader. After the acdemy Kai was put in Squad 12 with Sqad leader Mello Ire as his Captin. He admired Mello Ire for his graceful strength and intelligence. Kai quickly exxcled and became Lieutenan in a short amount of time with his exxcelent kido skills he was sure to become a Captin.


RP Sample: “How did such a lazy guy like him made it all the way to the final round?” “I know, all he do is sleep all day in class and outside of class.” Even though taking a quick nap before his next match Kai can still hear the insult coming from the other students. Ignoring them he continue to play the part while questioning himself how did he ended up in a contest that he didn’t even sign up for. He blamed his group leader for pleading him to join. Hearing his name called out he sat up and rubbed his eyes then stood upright. “Here we go,” Kai sign.

Stepping out onto the battle floor Kai held his bokutou in his right hand and let the tip balance his weight. Watching his opponent entering the floor Kai yawn, stay half awake which annoyed his opponent. “I can’t believe a nobody like yourself actually made it this far,” his opponent Jecht, the fan favor to win the tournament, mocked Kai. With the point of his bokutou still touching the floor, he began to stare at the tip and taping it with his foot. “Hey are you ignoring me!?” Jecht shouted. Yawning again Kai reply with, “Yes I am.” Temper boiling as soon as the bell rung Jecht did a mad dash towards Kai and taking a big leap into the air, he swung his bokutou downward sending all his weight and force at Kai. A small dust cloud covered the area momentarily and as it cleared up the bokutou had missed its mark by several inches. Kai brush open his left eye and swung his bokutou sideways having it block by Jecht.

After a long ten minute of dodging all of Jecht’s attacks fatigue began to kicking in. “Tire?” Kai ask him. Sweat pouring down his he face Jecht reply with an angry tone, “no way in hell will I ever lose to a nobody like you.” Taking nonstop abuses from everyone this was the last straw. Gripping his bokutou tightly Kai waited till Jecht close in with an attack and counterstrike with his own catching Jecht on his left knee. The attack was so shift and quick that not everyone watching in the audience show it landing. “I must’ve overstretch my leg tendon swinging around wildly like that,” Jecht tried to lie. Turning and facing Kai he got into his stance and was prepare for another strike, “This time I’, getting serious.” Jecht inform Kai. The abusive words are still roaming throughout Kai’s head and the darkness from his past began to cloud him. Then thinking back to what hiss two friends Meshi and Kenichi taught him he regain himself just in time to sidestep Jecht’s attack. Making a quick 180 spin on his toes Kai give a warning to Jecht, “don’t die.” Jecht took this as a mockery and charged at Kai at full speed. This time instead of dodging Kai held his ground and wait for the perfect timing to counterattack. Studying his movement for the last ten minutes Kai found an opening in Jecht’s movement and exposed it by smashing his bokutou with his own with a powerful upward left-handed swing and capped it with a mid section strike. Seconds later Jecht fell to the ground and left the crowd speechless. Signing again Kai placed his bokutou on his shoulder and began to exit the arena until he was ask, for the prize of winning he can chose what squad he wants to join and he’ll automatically be transfer. Without thinking or look back Kai just mutter, “5th Squad,” and walked away. “Man this was such a pain,” Kai said to himself and went back to take a nap under his favor tree in the courtyard.
