Name: "Medusa Yggdrasil Aeon" aka "Mya"
Race: Quincy
Age: 18
Gender: Female
Appearance:
- Spoiler:
Personality: The type of person who operates with a cold, calm and detached efficiency? Well that would be Mya of course. She tends to look at human life as expendable, as long as her goals are met. The only life she finds value in is that of her sister's whom she loves dearly. It would not be out of the realm of possibility that Mya loved Nya a little more than a sister, but that has yet to be proven. Mya is ruthless and will do whatever it takes to get what she wants, except any actin that would have negative effects on Nya, and has no problem ending the lives of those who threaten her sister. You could say she is a bit overprotective. That would be an understatement. However other than her sister and possibly one or two exceptions she dislikes everyone. Some more than others. Some less. Moral of the story, don't get Mya angry, she holds a grudge like no other.
Background/History:Twenty years ago, the government began a program, titled the Yggdrasil Initiative supervised under the company TriX. It's goal was to produce artificial Quincies or as the project called them, "Aeons". Though the program did manage to achieve it's goal, it had an extremely high failure rate almost 90%, and only a handful of the engineered Quincies managed to survive creation, not to mention be fit to fight. In the end, the project was scrapped, though the existing Aeons were watched carefully, and trained. The government planned on them being obedient soldiers for them; as they were stronger than Quincy who were brought up similarly, only without Yggdrasil; though over the years, some escaped. Those who stayed were treated like soldiers always in the presence of a drill sergeant, so who can blame them?
As super soldiers the Aeons were genetically engineered for excellence to be better than both normal humans and Quincy alike. To achieve this with as little visible side affects as possible the government constructed a virus, to modify the unique genetic structure of each Aeon. As a result, most Aeons did not end up manifesting their Quincy power as a bow, but in other forms. Even so, this virus caused their bodies to be far more durable than normal humans. Where as a normal human would need around 12 pounds of pressure to get a broken bone, an Aeon would not break a bone until 36 pounds of pressure had been induced. Increased muscle density, meaning more strength per square inch, increased reflexes to the point where they could keep pace with even the most elite of Quincy.
Mya and Nya started out as a single egg. Their mother happened to be one of the scientists working at TriX she willingly donated one of her own eggs for the sake of the project, and when the egg was fertilized it happened to split into two, causing identical twins to be born. Except, they weren’t exactly born so much as incubated in a large tube. At the age of 2 they were taken out of the incubators, and nurtured by a hired nurse. Their mother was not allowed to be the nurturer as it was possible she might grow emotionally attached to them. As a result Mya and Nya never knew their mother. From the age of six and onwards they were trained in military combat, tactics, stealth and assassination. As six year olds they knew nothing about killing or death or the world for that matter. And yet they learned.
The twins were part of the handful of children to survive the augmentation done to them, and were sent to an accelerated program at the age of 8. Here they learned to use fire arms of all kinds, explosives and began studying the spiritual world as well. They learned about the quincy, how they were different from them, about hollow and the shingami that fought them. Though being only human Intel, they could find out only the most basic of facts. (Basically what you know before the save Rukia in SS arc). Life was hard though. Aeons frequently stepped on each other to rise in the ranks, it was not uncommon for one of the younger Aeons to be killed in “accidents” set up if they could potentially be stronger than the older kids. Through this, Mya learned to be utterly ruthless squashing all those in her way.
The twins formed a bond stronger than most twins would have during these hard years. They were all each other had and depended on one another. Nya was the only person Mya trusted and the same was true in reverse. Mya vowed to protect her sister no matter what and knew that this life was most definitely not for them in any way, shape or form. They needed to leave this facility get out, run away be free and do whatever they wanted when they wanted not soldiers, but people, maybe even try to be ordinary kids. So Mya was patient going through the daily drills, training and hardships, always there to help her sister, even sneaking extra food into her plate at mealtimes. So when the opportunity presented itself for escape, Mya made sure she did not miss it. At the age of 11 the twins made their escape.
After careful planning and a thorough note on the guard positions, guard switch times, patrol routes, armory locations, and all possible exits, Mya and Nya made their daring escape or attempted to. They ended up setting off the alarm and so to make a distraction Nya led them to the control room and hit the emergency release button, freeing all the Aeons temporarily, allowing the twins to escape in the ensuing confusion. Once outside the facility walls they were able to sneak off into the night, now listed under TriX records as “failed” subjects, and forgotten. Still just children though and with no home or family to go to, they wandered aimlessly from town to town for a year barely scraping by.
However the two had each other and they somehow managed to survive on the streets by stealing what they needed. At the age of 12 though the two girls happened to be picked up by a traveling circus, the ringmaster believing that twin acrobats would make a great new addition to their act. Seeing no other real options, and the chance for a consistent source of food and housing the two twins decided to take the man up on his offer and did in fact join the circus where their augmented abilities helped them flourish. In addition to what they could already do, they became flexible, dexterous, and agile, their skills remained sharp. This wasn’t always easy, but it was better than being a test subject in a lab.
For four years the twins stayed in the circus, and for a time were content. Then they met another escaped Aeon and it was no longer just the two of them. After one of their shows, another sellout, as the twins became more well known, they were approached by a small boy. Mya was about to dismiss him with a wave of her hand, when she noticed he looked like he had been without a proper meal for some time. What’s more was his reiatsu seemed so similar to their own… artificial and yet, Quincy like. This made Mya pause, for a moment to look over the young child as she decided that they may as well bring him along. If only because he was an Aeon like them.
From there he kept referring to them as Onee-chan, though they weren’t biologically related. Mya learned to accept his presence and Kya became one of the few people she didn’t dislike. So the three of them stayed in the circus for another two years, the Aeon sisters earning fame as circus acrobats, taking care of their younger “brother” Kya. Though neither really accepted him as a sibling they wouldn’t throw him out to the wolves. Or at least Nya might not. Mya still only thought of Nya as having any real importance to herself. Now 18 they left the circus off to do other things, bringing Kya along for the ride.
