Sealed Zanpaktou:
Gen's sealed zanpaktou looks pretty ordinary. The length of the blade is not overly long, nor is it inhumanely short. Which means that Gen must rely solely on his ability to make such a standard blade seem more deadly than a 10ft, or a 20inch blade. The color of the hilt of the blade isn't a standard black. It's a purple hue, but a bit darker than actual purple, so maybe it could be called violet.

Shikai:
Virtually nothing changes about the zanpaktou after the incantation for it's release is broken. No significant change is made. The blade is the same length, and the hilt is still that same elegant violet hue as always. However, an ominous dark aura will surround the blade constantly, and it grows bigger and bigger the stronger the technique is used.

Shikai Ability:
Once the incantation is spoken, an ominous dark black aura surrounds the blade. It has an extremely small white concentrated energy that stems around the surface that can barely be seen. Gen's zanpaktou gains the ability to change the shape of his shadow. It can take the form of Gen himself, but it only has half of his strength and can only use half the amount of Kidou as Gen himself can use. Or the shadow can engulf Gen and make him transform into anything for a limited amount of time. Any animal, and any object.

Gen creates a copy of himself. It has half the amount of strength, and performs half the amount of kidou that Gen himself is able to use.

Gen's shadow engulfs him and temporarily turns him into anything he wants for a short amount of time.
