The Request (Zeroshin)

Suman walked through the 5th division's barracks urgently. He'd had this idea set in his mind for a long time; he'd never ever had the guts to ask of it. But now, Suman was prepared to ask his captain of the unforgivable. Truly, if Suman was worthy of the position he asked for he'd receive it. But he was tired of waiting. He was almost 1000 years old and it was about time his talents got recognized.

Opening the screen to the captain's room, Suman bowed, pressing his forehead to the planks under him. He'd shown the respect of carrying his zanpakto in his hand rather than around his waist. He also made a point of looking as non-aggressive as possible. And soon, he tightened the black ribbon around his ponytail before looking up.

"Hakura-taichou! I have come with a request to make of you." Suman stated politely, aiming to give the best impression possible. True, short of Bankai he could become a captain himself. But Suman was not an arrogant man and assumed that a captain was far beyond even him. Captains were those with leadership qualities; a will of steel and a selfless attitude. A captain put their squad before themselves and their own desires. Suman made a point of behaving as such every day.

"If it is my place to say, I would like to be your lieutenant." Suman asked humbly, making himself comfortable on his knees, outside the threshold of the room. He did not enter on purpose; this was a testament to his polite nature and the morals of the Samurai. Suman would sit here for days if he had to. His spirit and sense of honour would not allow him the shame of walking away because he was too cowardly to face his captain. "I am unsure whether I should be so coy. If you wish to consider my request, I shall withdraw respectively." Suman requested, looking as if that was the last thing from his mind. He did not want to leave without an answer; battle would be even harder if his thoughts were fragmented.
