Personality: She is a lonely person. She can be a caring person, providing aid, where aid is needed or nursing strangers back to health. She can make friends easily, but she can't bring herself to be trustful towards most people, and she is really shy around people with the exception of her master-Celestia. She loves to fight, and is very ambitious, however she fears nothing and never backs down from a challenge. Azula can also be overconfident at times though this is overshadowed by her tactical mind which analyzes her opponents before, during and after a fight. While fighting her mood may shift to seriousness or playfulness depending on the scale or importance of the fight.
Background/History: Azula had a miserable life as a human. She was orphaned at a young age, and when she was still only 13 she was sold into prostitution. Her life was hard as she took the daily abuse from clients and her owner. No one took pity on homeless children in those days and Azula was just unlucky to be so developed so early in her life. She did this for years, having a few children here and there, but none survived longer than 6 months. She was miserable all her life and died of an illness at age 19.
She was found by a shinigami not long after and sent to Soul Society where her large amount of spiritual pressure was noticed and put to good use. She was assigned to 2nd Division where she learned and mastered, kendo, kido, hand to hand combat, assasination, stealth, and other combat skills she utilized on many different missions. She met a woman, who was the lietenant at the time, named Yuki, who was both strong and beautiful. They became friends, and went on many missions together, before Soul Society was attacked repeatedly, by the Espada. From there Yuki was promoted to Captain, while Azula remained only a third seat in the 2nd Division.
Time passed, and Azula never got to really talk to her old friend and mentor anymore, however the new woman, Ringeko was said to be her lover. Azula went on with daily life, becoming stronger, faster and smarter, trying to be just as good as Yuki was, maybe even better. Finally after years of training, as a third seat she could kill a vice-captain and her assorted skills were as good as they were ever going to get. She was said to be up for promotion soon, but she never got that chance, she was sent on a secret mission to Las Noches, to spy on the Espada leader, Haruka at the time, to find out what they planned to do in the near future.
She was captured by the Espada and held in Las Noches for decades, as one of the Fraccion's fraccion, considered lower than dirt, she reached another point in her existence where she was being abused. Day after day, she was simply some arrancar's whore, and wished to end her own life, but was kept locked in a cell, with Seki-seki stone cuffs, and could not take her own life. One day, she was sitting alone in her cell, wearing the arrancar uniform when her master came in and slapped her for no reason. To him, she was nothing, unimportant and unloved. He slapped her or hit her to show how much of a nothing she was. At first she had been strong, however over the several decades she was slowly broken, from abuse and battery.
As she was slapped her eyes began to blur with tears. Her master told her they were going to Soul Society, and that they would destroy all the shinigami. It took her battered mind a second to realize she was being brought along, meaning that the espada thought that they could win. She had heard Soul Society was in a weakened state (when Yuki was C.C xp), but she didn't want to beleive the fact that the arrancar could win, and be moving to Soul society permanently. She was taken from her cell and they left for Soul Society through the gargantua. Appearing above the rooftops of Serietei, Azula saw and smelt and heard sounds she had not heard for a century. As the arrancar fought shinigami, many of her old division members recognized her, and many died trying to free her.
Eventually the Espada were driven back and Azula was re-captured by the shinigami. However, the shinigami who plucked her from the grasp of the hollow was none other than the 12th Division Captain himself, Rasen Chikyuu. When brought before the council of Central 46 Azula was already examined by their physicains, who decreed that Azula was infected with hollow cells, from her century of abuse at her master's hands. So they gave her to Rasen, to see if the infection was contagious. They found, that it was not, however the disease was slowing killing her, and to save her, Rasen went to work trying to modify the cells so that it would cause hollowfication, not death.
More or less successful, the hollow began to fight for control over Azula's body and a large battle between Azula and the hollow that was trying to consume her from within ensued. As she lay on the table, she was half hollow and half shinigami, and every so often it could be seen that one side would gain the upper hand, then the other. Eventually after several days, Azula was able to conquer her inner hollow, but because of it, could no longer stay in Soul Society. Rasen, had saved her life, and for that she was truly grateful, however she would have to try and find others of her kind now, and so she left Soul Society, never to return.
She made it to Karakura town, where she is now, still protecting the populace from hollow, however, she bought a dog to keep her company, they became good companions, and have been everywhere with each other ever since.
