Name: Suzume Akiko [Name meaning: Sparkling Sparrow Child]
Age: 16
Gender: Female
Personality: Hyper, cheerful, affectionate, and extremely optimistic are words that fit Akiko to a tee. Her favorite things in the world are dancing and gymnastics, and she's very talented at both. Going to many gymnastics competitions and dance recitals has left her with a love of crowds and audiences, and as such, she often finds herself on street corners, entertaining random people with her unique blend of gymnastics and dancing.
Akiko has a tendency to treat everyone she knows the same, uncaring of their status in society and frequently hugging or glomping onto her friends/allies, and sometimes even clinging onto their backs like a monkey. She doesn't really care if the person is higher ranked than her or not. If she were ever to fall in love with someone, that person would likely never know unless she confessed, or was confessed to by her love interest first. Her friendliness has earned her the label of "ditz", but she isn't really bothered by it. To her, it's just a word, and, due to her cheerful and optimistic personality, she never lets mere words faze her. The truth is, while she is frequently called a ditz, she is actually quite intelligent, and despite what anyone may think, she knows when to get serious.
In her serious mode, Akiko seems like a totally different person. This strange turnaround in her personality tends to startle most people, though it may, in fact be her real personality. In this mode, she usually acts cool and composed, taking in everything in a calculating manner. She can seem a little pessimistic at times, as well.
The only thing that doesn't really change is her disregard for social status, as she still treats everyone the same. Despite this, she does work well in a team, actually preferring to work with others, usually providing back-up and support to her team-mates.
Appearance: Akiko has short-ish purple hair that reaches to a little past her shoulders with some longer bits that almost reach her waist, wide, dark red-violet eyes, and a rather small chest [kind of sitting between an A cup and B cup]. She stands about 5'3" and is very thin [though not to the point of looking unhealthy] and graceful in appearance. She usually wears a black, v-neck tank-top [like the one in the picture below], a poofy white skirt with black, lace-edged short leggings underneath, knee-high white socks, and a pair of mid-calf-height, flexable black boots, or some variation of that outfit.
- Spoiler:
History: Akiko was born in Osaka, Japan to a rather well off family. Her mother was a gymnastics teacher who did a bit of fortune-telling on the side, and her father was a famous dance instructor. As such, the bright-eyed girl was taught dance and gymnastics from an early age, her parents actually scheduling lessons around each other so as to give their beloved daughter the best that they could.
Despite the competitiveness of both dance and gymnastics, Akiko grew without feeling any of the pressure, nor gaining a competitive streak, as it wasn't really in her nature. Instead, she took both to be a game, just in it to have fun. Her parents were quite pleased with this attitude and highly encouraged her to just have fun.
At nine years of age, Akiko's parents decided that they wanted a change in scenery, and decided to pack up and move to be closer to her mother's family. The place they moved to was a town called Karakura, and the nine-year-old quickly fell in love with the place. She made friends quickly, while her parents were quick to find and rent a new dance studio and gym.
It was a year after the move when Akiko met her first Hollow. Unknown to her, she was highly spiritually aware, though the ten-year-old girl didn't really understand. She would have been dead if not for the timely appearance of a Superhuman woman. The woman took the time to explain to Akiko, and asked her if she would like to learn how to protect herself. Excited, Akiko agreed, and thus began the young Superhuman's training.
At first, it appear that Akiko had no fighting ability. A year flew by before the duo seemed to make any head-way. The two of them were ambushed in the park where Akiko and her
sensei were training. The elder fought to the best of her ability while protecting her student, but she was soon overwhelmed. It was then that the first real signs of the girl's power showed up.
Scared out of her mind, Akiko managed to 'grow' several dozen vines which bound the Hollows enough for her teacher to kill them all. From then on, the two of them worked on Akiko's apparent ability to control plant-life and turn simple plants into weapons... even creating 'pollen' that worked for healing, energy boosts, and other such support skills, though most of them didn't seem to work on Akiko, but they worked rather well, on her
sensei.
Three years after the two of them met, the woman who had helped Akiko so much informed her that they had to go separate ways. Of course, ever the optimist, Akiko believed that they would meet again, and so gave her a hug and wished her well.
From that point on, Akiko usually found herself working alone to kill off Hollows and protect the kids in her school who had no idea about the horrible creatures, as well as the spirits she'd befriended, all of whom would make tasty snacks for the Hollows. She had no idea that she'd never see her beloved
sensei again, as the woman died of a terminal illness three months after parting ways with her.
Shortly before her sixteenth birthday, Akiko heard about other powerful humans, and decided to seek them out in her free time, between school, dance, and gymnastics, the latter two she still highly enjoys.
RP Sample: Akiko was bored. More than bored, really. There was absolutely
nothing to do, and it was driving the normally hyper active teen nuts. She couldn't sense any Hollow, nor any of those guys with the Hollow holes (she still didn't know
what they were)... Normally she would have been in dance, but her father's dance studio was closed due to a bug infestation, and she'd already finished her homework. "Ahh~! Something happen, already!" she shouted, then lept off the playground swing she'd been swinging on, landing lightly and easily on the sand.
Almost as if answering her cry for boredom relief, a Hollow that she hadn't sensed, crashed into the park. This caused Akiko to grin and whoop. It seemed like a tough one, and this made her happy. It'd keep the boredom away for a little bit, at least.
The Hollow took notice of Akiko at that point, and the large beast began rumbling toward her, roaring at the girl as if to scare her. Still grinning widely in excitment, the red-violet eyed girl turned on her heel in the sand, her hair flipping in the breeze caused by the motion, and darted off into a nearby field, where her power would be most effective and the least taxing on her, due to almost any plant she needed for this being right there among the weeds.
Turning to face the beast again, Akiko watched as it barreled straight for her. Seemingly at the last second, she launched her counter attack. Thick, thorny vines burst from the ground wrapping tightly around the Hollow, stopping its movement entirely. "I call that one 'bind'," she stated cheerfully as she pulled out what appeared to be a thorny rose stem. The piece of plant enlongated into a thick-thorned whip, which she snapped at the Hollow's mask with practiced ease. "And that one, vine whip," she quipped with a laugh as the Hollow's mask split in two.
The vines that had been binding the monster returned to their original forms as Akiko stored her rose stem away again. The Hollow had been weaker than she thought. Either that or she'd gotten stronger without noticing. Either way, her playmate had been finished in one hit, and now she was back to square one.
There was absolutely nothing to do.
