Personality: Mai tends to be apathetic and cold. She is manipulative and ambitious, especially in regards to her own goals. She is extremely proper, caring about precedence and things like that and she has an acute sense of propriety. She isn’t exactly arrogant, but she does believe in her own abilities. Pride is an important thing to her, and she will not allow anyone to step on her. Consequently honor and justice are also important to her, although sometimes Mai’s sense of justice is skewed compared to the normal sense.

Appearance: Mai has long black hair, the color of ravens wing’s. It’s sleek and shiny and she wears it up, with small braids framing her face. Her face is an oval shape, with aristocratic features including high cheekbones and pale skin. Her eyes are thin and almond shaped, with thick black lashes and perfectly arched eyebrows. Her pupils are a light purple-ish silver. She wears the standard Shinigami uniform when on duty, however when off she likes to wears elaborate kimono.

History/Background: Mai was born into the Kuchiki family. She lived a life of relative luxury, and ease. Soon after being born, Mai’s parents were killed leaving her one of the only pure blooded Kuchiki alive. For some reason, the fact that most of the members of the Kuchiki family were adoptee’s never failed to rise Mai’s ire. It wasn’t fair that such people were allowed into the family, while the true descendants began to dwindle. The only exception to her bias was Ekochi. To Mai, he upheld the family honor remarkably well for someone not born of the family.

Mai had only the best tutors growing up, and she easily made strides that people twice her age stumbled over. However it was only to be expected, and Mai didn’t think of herself as accomplished merely for the fact that she held high expectations for herself. Still, some considered her a prodigy, or at least the few people Mai associated with. She tended to stay within the family home at all times. Thus Mai spent her days either training and studying, or doing other appropriate tasks. She managed to master the art of ikebana (flower arrangement) and often times could be found practicing origami, calligraphy and sado (tea ceremonies). She also loved to spend her time dancing, especially odori.
