Appearance: Sumikaya is very tall, and has a strong, but agile build, weighing 152 pounds, and being 6 feet, and 6 inches tall. Sumikaya has a very, very dark brown hair color, with a messy hair style, like
this. It is like that, but he has a knotted pony tail behind him, which hangs down, and the hair is longer, the lowest it gets is to the bottom of his neck. Sumikaya wears a black jacket, and a broad, white sash, and a black under robe, with a v shaped open in this under robe between his hips. He wears black, baggy pants. His black jacket is open a little, and his collar is raised, revealing his sharktooth necklace, with the teeth pointing counterclockwise all around. His Zanpakutou is in his sash, at his side.
Personality: Sumikaya has a confident, antagonizing, analytic, reliable personality. He is a good friend once you get to know him, but he can occasionally be rough around the edges. He is very intelligent, and analyzes everything he comes across, and attempts to discover the weakness of things. He is very, reliable, and is a person you can trust with a secret. He appears to be very confident. However, Sumikaya is prone to stress, and can get angry sometimes, and when he does get mad, you really should not be anywhere near him. He can also get irritated easily. He is generally an open minded person, but he is not perfect.
Background/History: Tragically, Sumikaya himself had never lived a life as a human being. His life was taken away from him, as he died during birth. It was a complication; he suffocated while he was being born, and was robbed of a chance to live. However, the even more tragic fact to it was that his mother died in the process. This was the key to his development as a Vizard. Something strange enough, when the two of them died, his mother kept Sumikaya inside of herself. Her mother refused to give up her child. Two spirits in the afterlife having a baby was not impossible, but this time, the spirits were trapped inside one another. The despair and horror of it all began to take its toll. However, it was Sumikaya's mother who became a Hollow first. She could not consume her own child, who was still inside herself, and she began to rage as a Hollow. Somehow, for the first recorded time in the history of Shinigami, a Hollow gave birth. The baby that came out had not been twisted or anything like that, but was more than likely going to be eaten. However, the Hollow was killed by Shinigami just in time.
Sumikaya was brought to Rukongai, and was a nameless baby. He was taken in by a group of other children, who had to live in Rukongai. All his life, even as a child, Sumikaya always had a mixed reiatsu. For a long time, however, this Hollow reiatsu was overshadowed, and hidden deep within himself. Sumikaya, however, did have spiritual power, and had to feed on things in order to survive, whereas a normal plus did not need to feed. It was set him apart from the rest of the pack, and made life a little harder. He grew up in Rukongai, raised and such by his own “clan”, and learned how to live and all of that yatta. Nothing really happened to his life, until he went into the Shinigami academy to train his power, and make himself plenty stronger. He spent a good part of his life in the academy, learning to do all of the Shinigami things he needed to learn to graduate. He finally graduated, and was assigned to the 3rd Division.
According to his superiors, he was a good Shinigami and a good guy, but as time went on, he seemed to get strange. This was because of his recurring nightmares, caused by the inner hollow inside of him, which was growing ever since he was released from the inside of his hollow mother. It even retained the personality of his mother, who was sweet and loving. However, with her normal self being afflicted by the fact she was Hollow, she was really extremely sadistic, and cruel, and acted kind and sweet only to try and get at Sumikaya, and consume him. Under pressure, he tried to train and get stronger, trying to overpower his inner hollow, but nothing he did worked. But, he had been promoted to Vice Captain just now. And in just a few short weeks, he had disappeared from Soul Society, seeking relief from his inner hollow. He had heard about the Vaizard, and appeared to them.
There, Sumikaya was trained to battle against his own inner hollow, and he had a tough time doing it. He needed to defeat the figure of his mother, who had became demon like in his inner world, and battled him there. Emotional weakness, and even weakness in power nearly killed Sumikaya, but he was able to succeed, and put his “mother” in her place. Even if she was a Hollow, she was still partly his mother. He learned to control his Vaizard powers, and grew stronger. He gained control over his personality, and was able to continue his life, in the Vaizard ranks. Now considered a villain by the Court of Pure Souls, he was forced to abandon that life, and move onto the life of a Vizard.
